floetry: a common place in time

we braid ‘n interweave
hidden in the seams
we’re the elephant stampede
can you feel my h-he-hea-heart
beat beat beat
the steel drum shakes loose
these choked vines and dead roots
*and another one*
surfin’ the waves of time ‘n space
these patterns shape like a fine lit white lace
same faces, a myriad of places
the kick drum drops, layin’ the black spade’s aces
trump card is set, now it’s just smooth sailin’
we kick back and watch the others devour their own
souls because the “real world”
is just an Olympics of rat races
